  1. In the beginning there was only one focus i.e Business. Only what was deemed "Business Data" was spoken about, documented and used to further the goals of the business. Employees were expected to keep up this high grade of dealing with data. "Electronic Data" processing shifted the focus to storage and retrieval mechanisms. Data Manipulation was permitted in a restricted manner. Data attained a prominent position with the advent of "Database Management Systems [DBMS]". Businesses and later the world began to revolve around data. Organizing this data for improving the DBMS resulted in the hierarchical, network and relational models. Hierarchical databases were cumbersome on the mandatory traversal. Network model needed the connected nodes to be specified. Relational model accorded maximum effectiveness at the risk of distancing the Entity from the real-world object. Structuring became an obsession. Internet ushered in the need for semi-structured and unstructured databases. What happened to the "Business" is a puzzle ? Business began to move towards the notion of "Power Houses". Information became the driver in this process. The realization that Information on its own is not power, but its apt usage is power resulted in the progress towards "Knowledge". The human was deemed necessary for Wisdom that is after all Knowledge Discovery is mechanize [?!]. What if we become choosy like at the start i.e whatever said, documented and done is only for the specific "Business" and its growth in the same line for some years ?
